SHELBY- Mr. Everett Earl Pennington, 71, of 129 Ridgefield Road, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, SC. He was a native of Gaston County, son to the late Everett Woodrow and Zula Mae Turner Pennington. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, was of the Baptist faith, and was a retired meat cutter. Earl was an avid boxer, winning many bouts while in the Air Force, and won Golden Gloves championship. He also was a former member of the Red Raiders Football Team in Gaston County and loved spending time with his former teammates, who will act as pallbearers.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Luther Jerry Pennington, Ted Pennington, and Roger Pennington.
SURVIVORS: He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Reba Thompkinson Pennington of the home; two sons, Tony Beardon and his wife Frances of Grover, and David Beardon and his wife Lois of Dearborn, Mich; one daughter, Jo Ellen Pennington of the home; two sisters, Jo Ellen Cranford and her husband Bobby of Asheboro, NC and Debbie Boyce of South Carolina; five grandchildren; and his faithful canine companion, “Molly”.
VISITATION: Friday (12/28) from 6-7:30pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

BURIAL: will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
