Floyd Smith

SHELBY: Floyd Dean Smith, 79, died Friday, July 7, 2023 at his home. Born in Iowa, he was the son of the late Orley and Effie Smith. Floyd worked as a long haul truck driver and enjoyed fishing, motorcycles and showing livestock. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Jean Cope Smith. He is survived by his sons, Ricky Smith and wife Tammy of Shelby and Michael Smith of Casar; daughters, Kathy Smith and husband Marvin of MS, Maggie Smith of Shelby, Cheri Smith of Shelby and Riki Richards and husband Jeremy of Maiden; sister, Pamela Frye and husband John of Waco; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 12, 2023 in Rose Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Ernie Richards officiating. The family will receive friends 9:30-10:30 A.M., prior to the graveside service, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.
