Floyd N. Millsaps

March 17, 1922 — October 26, 2007

SHELBY- Mr. Floyd Nathan “Pappy” Millsaps, 85, of 1104 Lakeview St., died Friday, October 26, 2007 at Hospice at Wendover. A native of Iredell County, he was a son of the late Charlie and Mary Poole Millsaps. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. during WWII and was a truck driver until The Lord called him to preach the gospel. He then became an ordained Baptist Minister, ministering at the Druscilla Presbyterian Church in Nebo for seven years. He was a member of Shelby Free Will Baptist Church, was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a 50 year member of the Phalanx Lodge No. 31 in Charlotte. Floyd enjoyed leather crafting, flea markets, and working in his greenhouse.

PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and a sister.

SURVIVORS: He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Helen McSwain Millsaps of the home; a son, Danny Millsaps and wife, Lanada of Shelby; a daughter, Jackie Gantt and husband, Phillip of Belwood; a grandson, Ben Gantt; and many nieces and nephews.

FAMILY HEADQUARTERS: The family will receive friends at the home.

FUNERAL: A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2007 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel.
