SHELBY- Mrs. Frances Weathers McCurry, 95, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at National Heath Care of Lexington, in Columbia, SC. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Elbridge Lee and Vernie Yelton Weathers. Frances attended Mars Hill College and was a 1940 graduate of Shelby Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse in several physicians offices prior to her retirement in 1977, and as a R.N. in the medical department of PPG Industries. She was a former member of First Baptist Church for 50 years, she relocated to Columbia, SC in 1999, where she then became a member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Hoyt McCurry; two brothers, Jennings and Robert Weathers; sister, Ruth W. Sobera; daughter, Jane McCurry DePriest; and brother-in-law, Richard Sobera.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her daughter, Miriam McCurry Hutto of Columbia, SC; brother Gene Weathers and wife Ella of Charlotte; sister-in-law, Catherine S. Weathers of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Laura H. Porzenski and husband Jeffrey of Matthews; Anna Hutto of Atlanta, GA, Nick DePriest and wife Cherie of Chapel Hill, and Chris DePriest and wife Samantha of Newnan, GA; ten great grandchildren, James-Austin, Kate, and Bryson Prozenski of Matthews and Noah, Chloe, and Cade DePriest of Chapel Hill, Gavin Davis Hutto of Atlanta, GA, Dylan, Connor, and Colin DePriest, of Newnan, GA; and a number of nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 11-12:30pm Saturday, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home

CLERGY: Rev. Tim Phillips will be officiating.

BURIAL: A graveside service will be held, 1pm, Saturday, at Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
