SHELBY- On Wednesday, Sep. 6, 2006 The Angels came for Mr. Frank Mitchell Hoppes, Sr. 71, of 2949 Old Cliffside Road at Hospice at Wendover.
FUNERAL: The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday (Sept. 8, 2006) at Christ The King Church.
BURIAL: Interment will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30pm today (Thurs, Sept. 7) at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.
PERSONAL HISTORY: Mr. Hoppes was a native of Cleveland County, son to the late Fred and Carrie Ross Hoppes. He was owner and operator of Hoppes Tree Service. He filled his life with his family while his home and his hand were always extended for the less fortunate.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, “F.H.” Hoppes, Bobby Gene Hoppes, and Ray Hoppes; and a sister, Judy Kay Glass.
SURVIVORS: He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carolyn Meece Hoppes of the home; one son, Frank Mitchell Hoppes, Jr. and his wife Stacy of Spartanburg, SC; four daughters, Carolyn Jean Petri and her husband, Richard Hopple of Louisville, KY, Jackie Ray McDaniel and husband Johnny of Lattimore, Michelle Boyd and husband Jessie of Shelby, and Jennifer Bishop and husband Kevin of Shelby; two sisters, Leona Sansing of Shelby and Coralee Utley of Plano, Texas; sixteen grandchildren, Michael, Jason, Ronnie and Nikcole Petri, Johnny Laughead, John David McDaniel, Kayleigh McDaniel, Zoey and Luke Bishop, Kevin Bishop, II., Jessie, Matthew, and Chyanne Boyd, Justin and Josh, and Curt Hoppes; three great-grandchildren, Katlyn, Caleb, and Khloe Petri, ten nephews, Kenneth, Dennis, Ricky, and Jimmy Hoppes, Lavern, Kim, and Keith Utley, Roger Dale Sansing, Allan Strom, Jr., and Donald Meece, II; and three nieces, Patricia Gardner, Doneille Meece and Karen Vitaneimi.
