Fred Thain

KINGS MOUNTAIN: Frederick “Fred” Thain, 82, died Thursday, June 9, 2022 at his home. Born in Candler County, GA, he was the son of the late Milton and Fairy Webster Thain. Fred participated in the non-denominational church known as The Truth, and he had a love for fishing, gardening, camping, sweets, traveling, playing the piano and listening to gospel music. He owned and operated Thains 5 & 10 stores while living in GA, and later worked for ADT Home Security Systems. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Thain. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Sally Paul Thain of the home; sons, Mark Thain of Kings Mountain and David Thain of Nashville, TN; daughters, Tamara Thain, Marisa Frishmuth and husband Chris and Darla Williams and husband Joel, all of Kings Mountain; sisters, Phebe McGee and husband Curtis and Nan Wood and husband Dale, both of GA; grandchildren, Darren Thain, Britney Morrow, Alyssa Sills, Joseph Williams and Kai Frishmuth; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 5:00 PM, Sunday, June 12, 2022 at the Lincoln County Senior Center, 612 Center Dr., Lincolnton. Burial will be held on September 29th at 4:00pm, in the Thain Family Cemetery, 135 Willow Lake Drive Metter, GA 30439.
