SHELBY- Mrs. Freda Katherine Katz Cooke, 85, of 1109 Mark Drive, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006 at home.
PERSONAL HISTORY: She was a native of Royersford, Penn., daughter to the late Harry P. and Mary Ann Merkel Katz. She was a graduate of State Teachers College in Westchester, PA, and taught elementary school in Pennsylvania before moving to Shelby. She was a member of Aldersgate U.M.C. She was a giving person always putting others first, even adopting a class at Graham Elementary School for needy items and Christmas gifts, and she could frequently be seen volunteering at the Senior Center. She was an avid golfer and bridge player.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: her husband of 47 years, Walter E. Cooke; a brother, Wayne Katz; and two sisters, Anna Newborn and Mary Diehl.
SURVIVORS: one son, David Cooke and his wife Kathy of Reno, Nevada; two daughters, Ann Pfohl of Rolling Hills, California, and Carol Burr of Asheville, NC; one brother, Frank Katz and his wife Anne of Jensen Beach, Florida; and one sister, Margaret Richards of Mechanicsburg Pennsylvania.; nine grandchildren, Katie, Ashley, Scott, Molly, and Annie Pfohl, Holly Cooke, Stephen Cooke and his wife Janelle, and Michelle and Nicholas Burr; and a special, beloved friend and caregiver, Lisa Jones.
FUNERAL: Memorial service, 11:00am, Friday, (Jan. 5th) in the Chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends following the service.
