SHELBY- Mr. Gary Wilson Borders, 64, of 207 Crow Rd., met his Savior face to face, Sun. Mar. 11th, 2012 at Hospice at Wendover. A native of Cleveland Co. he was the son of the late Jesse and Myrtle Crawford Borders. He was a proud Marine who served two tours in Vietnam. He spent 17 years as a Shelby City Fireman, later becoming Fire Marshall. He retired as Durham Co. Emergency Management Coordinator. He was a member of Number 3 Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Martin Borders, of the home; son, Josh Borders and wife Betsy of Shelby; daughter, Marie Jackson and husband Mike of Kings Mountain; sister, Iris Greer and husband Sam of Shelby; brother, Gene Champion and wife Carol of New Mexico; two grandchildren, Macayla Jackson and Jesse Borders; and two special friends, Tommy Hardin and Paul Barrett of Shelby.
SERVICES: 12pm, Wednesday, at Faith Baptist Church
VISITATION: Tuesday, 6-8:00pm, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, and other times at his home.
