George "Jim" Fitch Sr.

KINGS MOUNTAIN- George C Fitch, Sr., aka “Mr. Jim”, 93, died Thursday, May 23, 2019. A native of Cleveland Co., he was born to the late George and Ila Fitch. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II. He owned Jim & Jean’s Country Store and worked at both Woodbridge and Deerbrook Golf Courses. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, George C. Fitch, Jr.; daughters Barbara Jean Bolton and Mary Bumgradner. He is survived by his son, Todd Hewatt of Kings Mountain; daughters Diane Jones and Wanda Fitch, both of Georgia and Ethelle Fitch of Durham, NC; sister Linda Greene and husband Butch of Polkville; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren; and special friends Kay Freeman and Brian and Sharon Morrison. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11: 00 AM Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Dr. Steve Taylor, officiating.
