Gerald Jones

October 18, 1932 — February 27, 2022

SHELBY-Gerald Austin Jones,89, died Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Hospice of Wendover Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Paris and Lilly Carroll Jones. Gerald was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who served his country faithfully in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. He enjoyed serving his fellow veterans and helping them with anything they might need. Gerald was a member of the DAV and AMVETS and past state commander of the DAV. He was also a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Ellenboro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Elizabeth “Lib” Greene Jones; and brother, Charles Jones.
He is survived by his daughter, Vickie Murray and husband Alan of Waco; son, Andy Jones and wife Jill of Jonesborough, TN; grandchildren, Michelle Lynn and husband Cory, Ashley Kiser and husband Nathan, Tiffany Jones, and Alex Murray; great grandchildren, Laken and Gunner Murray, Kannon Kiser and Ezra Lynn.
Sister, Dorothy Jones Helton; sister-in-law, Sally Dixon Jones.
Funeral services will be held 11am, Saturday, March 5,2022, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Sepaugh officiating. The family will receive friend one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
