SHELBY- Mr. Gerald Ray Rabb, 74, of 801 Tryon Street, died Friday, January 1, 2010, at Hospice at Wendover. A native of Cleveland County he was the son of the late Max Avery and Elsie Maloney Rabb. He retired from Coca Cola and Sundrop Bottling Company. Mr. Rabb was a life long member of New Bethel Church of Shelby where he sang in the choir. He was an avid woodworker and sports fan, especially SHS football and Braves baseball. He also loved the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee.
PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving pet Freckles.
SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Carol Griffin Rabb of the home; a son Keith Wray Rabb and wife Lori Edwards Rabb; two daughters, Wanda Rabb Fischbach and husband Fred, all of Shelby; and Gwen Rabb Ledford and husband Mike of Boiling Springs; a brother Richard Rabb and wife Gaynelle of Greenville, SC; seven grandchildren Sajid Khan and wife Jackie Kooyman of Conway, SC, Mariam and Yasmeen Khan of Charlotte, Tyler and Holly Rabb of Shelby, Caleb and Cody Smith of Boiling Springs ; and one great grandchild, Laila Grace Khan of Conway, SC.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends Sunday, January 3, 2010, 6-7:30 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.
SERVICES: Services will be held, Monday, January 4, 2010, 3pm at New Bethel Church of Shelby.
BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow at Sunset Cemetery.
