KINGS MOUNTAIN - Grayton W. “Stretch” Bollinger, 82, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016, at his residence.
A native of Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Rarey and Hester Hildebran Bollinger. He was retired law enforcement for Kings Mountain Police Department and a loving husband, father, grand and great grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandson, Shane Huffstickler; two sisters, Shirley Bourn and Lillian Phillips.
He is survived by his beautiful wife of 64 years, Hazel Sanders Bollinger of the home; one son, Philip Bollinger; two daughters, Kathy Burns and husband Frank, Pamela Ingram and husband Kevin all of Kings Mountain; one sister, Pearl Woody and husband Alan of Iron Station; three brothers, Floyd Bollinger and wife Sandy of Kansas, Edward Bollinger and wife Judy of Lincolnton, and Larry Bollinger and Gail of Crouse and Kings Mountain; six grandchildren, Lynn Burns Slycord, Susan Burns Sipes and husband Charlie, Amy Burns Hawkins, Benjamin Bollinger, Meagan Ingram, Jacob Ingram; five great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Kings Mountain with the Rev. Charles Fite will officiating.
Interment will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
