SHELBY- Mr. Harlan Nelson Edwards, 80, of 1624 Riverhill Drive, Died Monday, Dec. 11, 2006 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
PERSONAL HISTORY: He was a native of Cleveland County and son to the late Colin N. and Artie Lemons Edwards. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a farmer, but retired from Fiber Industries. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and loved the outdoors.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: His wife of 46 years, Levon Meacham Edwards and a son, Eddie Edwards.
SURVIVORS: One son, Harlan Edwards, Jr. and his wife Margaret of Shelby; a daughter, Peggy Baker and her husband Rick of Shelby; seven grandchildren, Chris Edwards and his wife Sandy, Bryan Edwards and his wife Amy, Kelly Edwards and his wife Hope, Jennifer Edwards, Lindsay Edwards, and Drew and Jamie Baker; six great-grandchildren, Rachel, Elizabeth, and Julia Edwards, Ashley, Sara, and Eddie Edwards.
FUNERAL: 2:00pm, Thursday, (Dec. 14) at Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
VISITATION: One hour prior to the service at the church where he will lie in state.
BURIAL: will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park with military honors.
