Harry Williams

February 15, 1947 — October 22, 2015

GROVER- Harry Leroy Williams, Sr., 68, of 146 Roundtree Road, died of cancer Thursday, October 22, 2015 at home. A native of Madison County, IL, he was the son of the late Walter Leroy and Helen Fern Glover Williams. He finished boot camp in Great Lakes, IL and after boot camp was stationed at Camp Springs, MD where he had special training in the Communication Station. He then transferred to Norfolk, VA and served on the USS North Hampton Presidential Flagship. He served in the Navy from 1965-1969, later serving two additional years in the Navy Reserves. He held many offices at Beulah United Methodist Church.


PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his infant son, Jason Scott Williams.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his lovely wife, Shirley Davis Williams of the home; four sons. Harry Leroy Williams, Jr. and wife Tara of Kings Mountain, Eric Wayne Williams and wife Mary of Hampstead, NC, Walter Glenn Williams and wife Anna Of Colorado Springs, CO, and Johnathan Cole Williams and girlfriend, Fallon of Columbia, SC; one daughter, Wendy Williams Wiggins and wife Chris of Sharon, SC; three step sons, Rev. Terry Mull and wife Debbie of Gastonia, Perry Mull and wife Joyce of Waco, NC, and Marc Mull and wife Teresa of Cherryville; one sister, Mary Jane Davis and husband Mike of Blacksburg, SC; eighteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; several loving nieces and nephews; a very dear uncle, Dennis and wife Shirley Wieland.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held 2 pm Sunday at Beulah United Methodist Church 1534 Stony Point Road, Shelby, NC, 28150.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home in Kings Mountain, Saturday from 6-8:00 pm.
CLERGY: Rev. Cindy Spices and Rev. Terry Mull will officiate.
