SHELBY- Mrs. Helen Lorraine Tate, 88, of 1550 Charles Road, died Friday, October 17, 2008 at Carillon Assisted Living Center. A native of Duluth, MN, she was a daughter to the late Frank Leslie and Audrey Helen Ricker Morris. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, and a former member of Etowah United Methodist Church in Hendersonville. She was Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and a White Shrine lady. Mrs. Tate was very proud to be a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII where she served in New Guinea and the Philippines.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, James C. Tate; and two brothers, Allen C. and Franklin Morris
SURVIVORS: She is survived by two sons Allen J. Tate and wife Rebecca of Shelby and Glenn R. Tate and wife Jaquie of Lakeland, Fl; a daughter Lorraine F. Altmann and husband Bill of Schroon Lake, NY; a brother Roger A. Morris and wife Sharon of Duluth, MN; 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, and a number of nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends an hour before the service, and at other times at the home of Al and Rebecca Tate.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 11:00 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel.
OFFICIATING: The Revs. Wayne Allen and Sally Queen will be officiating
