NEWPORT NEWS, VA. —Henry F. Crawford, 95, formerly of Shelby and Titusville, Fla. died Tuesday, June 19, 2012. Mr. Crawford was born in Morgan County, Georgia on April 14, 1917. Mr. Crawford began working at an early age on the family farm in Georgia. From there he moved to North Carolina where he spent 15 years working in the textile mills. During World II he served as a staff sergeant in the Army Air Force. He later worked in the aviation and nuclear power industry as a quality inspector. In 1965 he moved his family to Florida where he was employed by McDonnell Douglas working on the Apollo moon missions. He retired in 1981. He is survived by his son Tom Crawford and daughter, Kaye Greene, both of Shelby; daughter Judy Thomas and her husband, Barry, of Midlothian, Va.; daughter Sandy Weishaar and her husband Jim of Yorktown, Va. ; sisters, Kitty Minnix and Christine Smith of Shelby and Janet Isrel of Miami, Fla.; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.Funeral Service: Saturday, 11 a.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral HomeOfficiated By: Dr. Michael MinnixBurial: Cleveland Memorial ParkMemorials: Westview Baptist Church, 500 Melody Lane, Shelby, NC 28152 or First Baptist Church, 303 Main Street, Titusville FL 32796
