SHELBY- Mrs. Irene Horton Queen, 88, of 422 Bear Creek Road, died Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Hospice at Wendover. A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late C.B. and Ethel Martin Horton. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church where she and her husband were active in the nursing home ministries.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Battie Lee “B.L.” Queen; a son Gerald Queen; 2 daughters, Linda Clary and Jean Queen; 2 sisters, Louise Woods and Thelma McGinnis; and a brother, Clyde Horton.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by a son Dale Queen and wife Vickie; 5 daughters, Joann Bowen and husband Harold Dean, Martha Horton and husband Tommy; Peggy Mullinax and husband Rick, Becky Estes and husband Billy, and Debbie Barker and husband Mike; a sister Evelyn Woods, all of Shelby; 15 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 7 step grandchildren.
VISITATION: Visitation will be held from 12:30-2pm, Thursday, February 19, at Faith Baptist Church and other times at the home.
FUNERAL: Services will be held Thursday, February 19, 2pm, at Faith Baptist Church
INTERMENT: Burial will immediately follow in Cleveland Memorial Park
CLERGY: Dr. Barry Goodman, Rev. Johnny Owens, Dr. Tim Sims, and Rev. Charles Boone all will be officiating.
