SHELBY- Mrs. Irma B. Combs, 89, of 839 Pleasant Drive, died Saturday, July 5, 2008 at White Oak Manor of Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Seth Victor Bowen and “Trent” Borders Bowen. She was employed for 20 years with NASCAR as a track steward and was a member of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, where she looked after the cemetery for many years.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Roby Combs.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by two sons, Roby S. Combs and Phil Combs, both of Shelby; two grandchildren, Shane Combs of Charleston and Tara Combs of Shelby; and a great-grandchild, Hannah Banicki-Combs of Charleston.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2008 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times at the home of George and Gloria Newman, 905 Pleasant Drive, Shelby.
FUNERAL: A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery.
BURIAL: Burial will be in Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery.
