Iva Jean Dawson

SHELBY-Iva Jean Dawson, 88, died Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at Hospice at Wendover. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late John and Cora Chapman Wright. Jean worked at J&K Music Shop for 25 years, retired from Kemet Electronic, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Herman W. Dawson; son, John Dawson; daughter, Audrey Lynn Dawson; and six brothers and sisters.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her daughters, Jackie Harris and husband George, and Cindy Philbeck, all of Shelby; grandchildren, Candace Humphries and husband Mark of Shelby, Nicole Humphries and husband Chad of Boiling Springs, and Jason Harris and wife Jennifer of Alabama; great-grandchildren, Tyler Pruitt, Madison and Coby Humphries, Keara, Kai, and Padraig Harris


FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral services will be held 2pm, Tuesday, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel

VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home

BURIAL: will follow in Sunset Cemetery

CLERGY: Rev. Tony Sisk will officiate
