SHELBY: James H. Lowery Sr., 92, died Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Atrium Cleveland. He was the son of the late Daniel and Julia Lowery. James was a legendary carp fisherman for many, many years. He was given the nickname “Whoa-Boy” by his fellow fisherman friends. His favorite lake was Midway #1 in Shelby. Before his retirement, James worked for Davis Electric at PPG for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ponice Lowery; daughter, Patty Lowery; and brother, Norman Lowery. He is survived by his sons, James Lowery Jr. of Shelby and Danny Lowery and wife Lisa of Shelby; daughters, Sandy Lowery of Shelby and Kay Hartman of Fallston; grandchildren, Jamie Lowery Scott and husband Douglass, Jamie Lynne Lowery, Danielle Varnadore, J.D. Lowery, Chad Lowery and wife Amber, Timmy Robbins, and Wayne Connor and wife Sherrie; great-grandchildren, Hunter Scott, Peyton Scott, Aubrey Scott, Remington Hardy, Katlyn Connor, Isacc Connor, Harmony Varnadore and Shawn Varnadore; and special friends, Danny Cody and Crystal Greene. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 2:00PM to 3:00PM Thursday, April 25,2024 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.
