James Still

SHELBY- James E. “Jim” Still Sr., 83, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Shelby. A native of Abbeville, SC, he was the son of the late Evedon and Addie Bowen Still. Jim graduated from Clemson University in 1956, retired in management from Dover Textiles, and was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Men’s Bible Class. He was a founding member of scout troop 290 at Aldersgate, enjoyed camping, bird hunting, fishing, and traveled all the providences in Canada, and all the United States, with the exception of Hawaii.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Elizabeth “Lib” Still; sons, Jim Still Jr. and wife Sharon of Rutherfordton, Mike Still and wife Alison of Waco, and Bob Still and wife Tina of Shelby; grandchildren, Joanna Still Browning and husband Ross of Raleigh, James “Jes” E. Still III of Nashville, Tenn., Lexie Still of Rutherfordton, Kristin Still of Shelby, Michael Still and Kori Still, both of Waco; and his beloved canine companion, LuLu.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, in the church sanctuary.

FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral services will be held 3pm, Friday, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church

OFFICIATING: Revs. Randy Blanton and Jamie Mosteller will officiate

BURIAL: A private family burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery
