SHELBY- Mr. James Ervin Strickland, 73, of 308 Westside Dr., died Tuesday, September, 28, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Howard and Ida Mae Mayhew Strickland. Mr. Strickland was a charter member of Putnam Baptist Church and retired from Prudential. He loved to attend church and was an avid fisherman.
SURVIVED: He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Martha Smith Strickland, of the home; son Scott Strickland and wife Kim of Shelby; two daughters Wendy Strickland Patterson and husband Darrell of Shelby and Tina Ferrell and husband Eric of Kings Mountain; two sisters Joyce Sweezy and husband F.C., Nancy Kendrick and husband Joe; and brother Marvin Strickland, all of Shelby; 6 grandchildren, Holly Patterson, Brett Patterson, Madison Strickland, Matt Strickland, Seth Ferrell, and Lauren Ferrell.
SERVICES: Thursday, September 30, 2pm at Putnam Baptist Church.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
BURIAL: Private family burial will be held at Cleveland Memorial Park
