James Thompson

October 30, 1932 — March 22, 2014

SHELBY— Mr. James Stanley Thompson, 81, of 116 Lindsey Lee Lane, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Chesapeake, W. Va., he was the son of the late Corley and Orpha Lipscomb Thompson. He served in the Army during the Korean War Conflict. James was a member of South Flint Church of the Nazarene in Michigan, and Shelby Church of the Nazarene, where he served as head usher, and on various boards of the church. He retired from GM as a tool & cutter grinder, later, he worked for Walmart in the automotive department. James enjoyed collecting coins, fishing, camping, and golf. He loved his family dearly.
Preceded: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Freda Mae Thompson; brothers, Ellsworth, Archie, and Bob Thompson; and sister, Lorine Thompson.

Survived: He is survived by four daughters, Diane Noblitt and husband Doug of Salem, Ohio, Denise Hoyle, Jill Pruett and husband Kenneth, Jaime Bowman and husband Darren all of Shelby; three sisters, Betty Brown of S. Charleston, W.Va., Faye Meadows of Velle, W.Va., and Bonnie Sigmon and husband Robert of Cincinnati, Oh; 11 grandchildren, Amy Blakeman and husband Travis, Lindsey Noblitt, Kenney Hoyle Jr. and wife Blair, Jennifer Matzuga and husband Christopher, Corey Bowman and wife Tanzza, Brigette Boyd and husband Andrew, Jasa Champion and husband Josh, Nicholas Napier and wife Christin, Jenna Bright and husband Christopher, Joshua Bowman and wife Jerica, and Bailey Bowman; 17 great grandchildren, Carter, Natalie, Kaylie, Brooks, Isaac, Conner, Avery, Gabriel, Kaydence, Liam, Cailen, Graham, Knox, Haiden, Tristen, Maeson and Myleigh, and one aunt, Peanut Sloan.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 2 p.m. at Shelby First Church of the Nazarene.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Tuesday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Clay Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby, and other times at his home.

Clergy: Rev. Eddie Clayton and Rev. Tony Rayfield will be officiating.

Burial: Burial will immediately follow at Cleveland Memorial Park with military honors
