SHELBY- Mr. James Arthur “Art” Grigg, 84, of 1739 S. Dekalb St., Shelby, died Sunday, November 5, 2006 at home. A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Thompson Oscar Grigg and Margaret Ann Wilhelm Grigg. He served in the Navy during WWII as a crewmember on the U.S.S. Duncan. He was retired as Postmaster in Aberdeen, NC and was a member of the Elks Lodge. Mr. Grigg was a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, where he was a founder of the Youth Program.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita Ann Morgan Grigg; second wife, Sara Starnes Grigg; three brothers, Thompson Millard Grigg, William Herbert Grigg and Clyde Ernest Grigg; and three sisters, Hallie Grigg Gantt, Ruby Grigg Kitchen and Annie Mae Grigg Noblitt.
SURVIVORS: He is survived by a son, James Edwin “Jim” Grigg, and dear personal friend, Lane Lunceford of Shelby.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 11, 2006 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church and other times at the home.
FUNERAL: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 11, 2006 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
BURIAL: Interment with Navy Honors will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
