James "Jimmy" Blanton

December 23, 1921 — August 6, 2009

GASTONIA- Mr. James “Jimmy” Fletcher Blanton, 87, of 1410 East Gaston Street, died Wednesday, August 6, 2009 at Lincoln Nursing Center. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late George Clifton and Mary Elliot Blanton. Mr. Blanton was a member of Hills Chapel Methodist in Stanley and was a former member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He Served in the Army and earned a purple heart for his injuries from war and retired from Cleveland Lumber Company.

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Hazel Johnston Blanton.

SURVIVORS: He is survived by his sister Hazel Wallace of Mooresboro.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends, Monday, August 10, 2009 from 12:30-1:30 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

SERVICE: A graveside service will be held, Monday, August 10, 2009, 2pm, at Cleveland Memorial Park, with Military Honors.
