James M. Hayes

KINGS MOUNTAIN- Mr. James Matthew Hayes, 77, of 703 Marion Street, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at home. A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Thie Edgar and Iva Belle Wilkie Hayes. He retired from Broad River Electric.

PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters, and his first wife, Dorothy Houser Hayes.

SURVIVORS: He is survived by his wife of two years, Bernece Glass Hayes, of the home; a son, Dale Hayes and wife, Angie, of Shelby; a daughter, Debbie Wooten and husband, Jimmie, of Gastonia; two brothers, Ray Hayes and wife, Barbara, of Golden, MS, and Dean Hayes and wife, Ann, of Grover; four sisters, Lula H. Townsend of Hickory, Mayola H. Blanton of Kings Mountain, Elvie H. Allen and Beulah H. Houser, both of Grover; four grandchildren, Stephanie Ivie and husband, Brian, of Latimore, Kim Devine and husband, David, of Fallston, Jamie Hayes of Bessemer City, and Tyler Wooten of Gastonia; three great-grandchildren, Meah Ivie, Spencer Devine, and Emma Devine.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2010 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Kings Mountain, and at other times at the home.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Mountain Rest Cemetery.

OFFICIATING CLERGY: The Rev. James Lockridge will officiate.

MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to Crestview Baptist Church 1090 Old Boiling Springs Road, Shelby, NC 28152.
