SHELBY- Mr. James “Vick” Victor Rollins, 65, of 1428 Mt. Sinai Church Road, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, June 17, 2010. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Dewey and Essie Hunt Rollins. Vick was a member of the Tom Jolley Sunday School Class at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church where he was also a deacon. He loved his church family and he also loved his “official greeter” duties every Sunday.
Vick loved God, his family, his church, and his community! He had a particular love for the widows in the community and routinely provide them with various goodies.
He was so proud of his children and grandchildren. He loved to watch his grandchildren play ball. He never met a stranger and was always quick to bring the conversation to his family or his church.
Vick was self employed with Rollins Scrap Iron and Metal and loved to travel.
PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Max, Clyde, and JD Rollins.
SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Diana Hamrick Rollins, of the home; two daughters Pam Turner and husband Chris of Shelby, and Amy Brooks and husband Joe of Boiling Springs; three sisters Grace Carpenter, Betty Warlick, and Nell Kendrick; two brothers Robert and Wayne Rollins; four grandchildren, his favorite oldest grandson, Cody Turner, his favorite middle grandson, CJ Brooks, his favorite youngest grandson Adam Brooks, and Mikaela Turner, his most special favorite granddaughter. Vick also had many nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends, Saturday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and other times at the home.
SERVICES: Services will be held, Sunday at Mt .Sinai Baptist Church at 2:30pm
BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery.
MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to Mt. Sinai Baptist Church building fund, 1227 Mt. Sinai Church Road, Shelby.
CLERGY: The Revs. Tim Trexler and Billy Boone will be officiating.
