Janette Queen

August 7, 1907 — January 5, 2008

SHELBY- Mrs. Janette Bowman Queen, 100, of 1431 S. Post Rd., died Saturday, January 5, 2008 at Hospice at Wendover. She was a native of Catawba County, daughter to the late O.P. and Bessie Bowman Bowman. Mrs. Queen was the eldest member of Landmark Baptist Church. She worked in retail sales for many years buying and selling ladies’ hats. Her and her husband Carl owned and operated the Shelby Drive-in Theater. She was also very active in local politics. She was an active member of the Republican Party and could always be found volunteering at the local polling places during elections.

PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents; husband, Carl W. Queen; and six brothers and sisters.

SURVIVORS: One sister, Revonda Huffman and her husband of Hickory; a number of nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews; and her special friend and caregiver, Emma Frank Eaker and her husband Jimmy of the home.

VISITATION: Monday (1/7), from 1-2:00pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home

FUNERAL: Monday (1/7), 2:00pm in the Chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home

BURIAL: Catawba Memorial Park, Hickory
