Janie Morrison

July 20, 1915 — March 6, 2008

Shelby- Mrs. Janie Turner Morrison, 92, of Somerset Court of Shelby died Thursday, March 6, 2008. Mrs. Morrison was born in Cleveland County to the late Edward Albert Turner and Bertha Pruett Turner Blanton. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, who enjoyed sewing, cooking, and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Charles P. Blanton; husband Clarence M. Morrison; son, Albert J. McMurry; granddaughter, Lela Jane Lowman; brother, Paul E. Turner; sisters, Sue Turner Barkley and Edna Blanton Rogers; brother-in-law, Archie M. Barkley; and sister-in-law, Lou Collins Blanton.
Surviving to cherish loving memories are two daughters, Emmalyn Morrison Preston and her husband, Marc; Bertha Jane Morrison Lowman and her husband, Roy, all of Shelby; a stepdaughter, Sarah Morrison Muritashaw of Alaska and her family; a stepson, Carl L. Morrison and his wife, Linda, of Shelby and his family; two brothers, Jimmy Blanton and Bill Blanton and his wife, Shannon, all of Shelby; a sister, Arzie Blanton Rogers and her husband, Ernest, of Shelby; two grandsons, Andy McMurry and his wife, Amy, of Hickory; Jonathan V. Preston of Asheboro; one great grandson, Avery Lowman; and two great granddaughters, Malia Rachels and Emily McMurry; a brother-in-law, E. Harvey Rogers of Shelby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 8, 2008, at 2:00 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, with Preacher Dan Sass officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
