SHELBY- Mrs. Janie Irette Hamrick, 71, of 1402 Troutman Lane, died Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center. A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter to the late Russell and Annie Bell Foster Childers. She was a homemaker and a member of Martin Street United Methodist Church.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, “P.G.” and James “Melton” Childers, and a sister, Delores Burns.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Johnny Hamrick of the home; a son, Ron Hamrick, of the home; three daughters, Connie McCombs and husband, Jerry, and Bonnie Davis and husband, Hayward, all of Shelby, and Donna Hart and husband, Joe, of Clearwater, Fla; a sister, Frances Allen and husband, Bill, of Cherryville; 11 grandchildren, Melissa Hamrick, Eric Hamrick and wife, Tristina, Kevin McCombs and wife Tina, Terri Anderson and husband, Shane, Steven McCombs and wife, Leslie, Tiffany Emery and husband, Andrew, Christine Davis, Traci Kirby and husband, Forrest, Ashley Boggs, and Jonathon and Joshua Hart; 17 great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Claude Burns of Kings Mountain; special friends, Renee Powell, and Don and Frankie Barkley, and her faithful canine companion, “Noodles”.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 pm, Friday, February 1, 2008 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter, Connie McCombs, 1400 Troutman Lane, Shelby.
FUNERAL: The funeral will be Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel.
BURIAL: Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
