J.B. Philbeck Sr.

SHELBY- Mr. J.B. Philbeck, Sr., 74, of 1211 Horsetrail Drive, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, he is the son of the late John Smith and Carrie Tessenner Philbeck. He was owner and operator of J.B. Philbeck Roofing for 48 years. He had a special love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and his horses.

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers John Wayne Philbeck and Billy Philbeck and two sisters Patsy Moore and Geraldine Terry.

SURVIVORS: He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Annie Doloris Philbeck of the home; two sons J.B. Philbeck Jr. and wife Kay of Gaffney, Steven Dale Philbeck of Shelby; a daughter Sandra Crawford and husband Rob of Shelby; two sisters Joyce Dover and husband James of Shelby, Kay Jones and husband Donald of Statesville; two brothers Kenneth Philbeck and wife Shirley of Forest City, John Smith “Peanut” Philbeck of Statesville; five grandchildren, Jamie Brian Philbeck of Gaffney, Steven Dean Philbeck and wife Shauna of Shelby, Lora Ann White of Shelby, Josh Crawford and wife Kelli of Shelby, and Joseph Crawford and wife Lonnie of Shelby; seven great grandchildren, Skylar Philbeck, Valarie Lovelace, Deanna Lovelace, and AJ Lovelace Jr., Malia Crawford, Mason Robert Crawford, and Madison Crawford; and three sisters in law, Ann Philbeck of Texas, Brenda Humphries and Jean Philbeck, both of Shelby.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends on Friday, July 24, 2009 from 12:30 until 2 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

FUNERAL: Services will be held, Friday, July 24, 2009, 2:00pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel.

INTERMENT: Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery

CLERGY: Chaplain Len Byers will be officiating
