SHELBY - Mr. Junious Esper “J.E.” Laughlin Jr., 79, of Hammock Avenue, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Hospice at Wendover.
A native of Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Junious Esper Sr. and Susie Runyans Laughlin.
He served in the Army during the Korean War Conflict and worked most of his life as a carpenter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Mace Laughlin; three sisters, Frances Perry, Carolyn Martin, Shirley Hayes; and two brothers, Fred and Clarence Laughlin.
He is survived by his step-son, Paul Stallings and wife Vicki; and step-daughter, Pat Lineberger, all of Shelby; two brothers, Lawrence Laughlin and wife Jean, Martin Laughlin and wife Evelyn, all of Gaffney, S.C.; five step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, and other times at the home of his brother, Lawrence, at 320 Shelby Highway, Gaffney.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 2 p.m. Friday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel
