SHELBY: Jeanette Wease Hayes, 88, died Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at her daughter’s home. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Anderson and Rixie Greene Wease. Jeanette was a member of Ledford Grove Baptist Church and worked in textiles. She loved her church, work and family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Gabby” Tommy Hayes Jr.; daughter, Dianne Patterson; and brothers, Leroy, Clyde and Marvin Wease. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Huffstetler and husband Mike; sons, Larry Hayes and wife Rita and Scott Hayes and wife Lisa, all of Shelby; grandchildren, Shannon Hayes, Chris Hayes, Victoria Hayes, Jeremy Hayes, Sterling Cole, Tommy Huffstetler, Shane Huffstetler and Amber Allen; and great grandchildren, Ethan, Mackenzie, Riley, Elizabeth, Oakland, Brantley, Lilly Mae, Lucus, Hannah, Logan, Monica, Cody, Levi and Phyllis. Funeral services will be held 3pm, Friday, September 10, 2021 at Ledford Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jackie Price officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, in the church. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Ledford Grove Baptist Church.
