Jerry Carroll

SHELBY: Jerry Wayne Carroll, 78, died Saturday, September 30, 2023 at his home. A native of Watauga County, he was the son of the late Fred and Cleo Johnson Carroll. Jerry lived all of his life in Boone, later moving to Shelby where he has lived for the past 11 years. He was a former member of Boone Baptist Church and a current member of Bethel Baptist Church in Shelby. He was an auto parts salesman all of his life and loved his car, a 1973 Comet. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sybil Van Dyke Carroll of the home; daughter, Amy Carroll of Shelby; sisters, Joanne Lewis of Shelby and Linda Leibow and husband Saul of Buckeye, AZ; brother, Johnny Carroll and wife Jerel Dean of Morganton; one niece; four nephews; six great- great-nephews; and one great-great niece. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Tim Sims and Rev. Kenny Newberry officiating.
