SHELBY- Mr. Jerry Deemes Jackson, 60, of 111 Brookhill Rd., went home to be with his Lord on Friday, July 4, 2008 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” A native of Sampson County, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Deemes and Lois Spell Jackson. He was a graduate of Campbell University and was employed as a salesperson in the textile industry. Mr. Jackson was a member of First Baptist Church in Cherryville and was a past President of the Cherryville Optimist Club. He was an avid fisherman, who always found time to be with his boys.
SURVIVORS: He is survived by his loving wife of ten years, Vickie Devine Jackson of the home; three sons, Jeremy Jackson and wife, Donna, Heath Jackson and wife, Belle, and John Jackson and wife, April, all of Cherryville; a sister, Donnette Westbrook and husband, Charles, of Roseboro; a brother, Dixon Jackson and wife, Shirley, of Roseboro; seven grandchildren, Garrett Jackson, Taylor Jackson, Hunter Jackson, Carlton Jackson, Carly Grace Jackson, Halle Jackson and Glenn Jackson; an uncle, Jerome Spell and wife, Elizabeth, of Roseboro; an aunt, Carleen Barefoot of Raleigh; and a number of nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
FUNERAL: The funeral will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Clay-Barnette Chapel.
BURIAL: Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
