SHELBY – Mr. James “Jim” Bowen, 76, of Melody Lane, died Wed., Feb. 6, 2013 at his home. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late L.G. and Katherine Hubbard Bowen. Jim served in the National Guard and was an NC State Alumni. He was owner/operator of Bowen’s Grading Company and was a member of First Baptist Church.
PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard “Dick” Bowen; and his canine companion, Freeway.
SURVIVED: He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Bowen Iler and husband Steve of Franklin, Tenn., and Tina Bowen of the home; four grandchildren, Brenna and Bowen Koby of Ga., Cody and Cole Iler of Tenn.; special friends, Wanda Fisher and her daughter, Natasha and husband Brad Brown and their daughter Savannah.
SERVICES: Saturday, 2pm, at First Baptist Church, Webb Chapel
VISITATION: The family will receive friends Friday, 6-7:30pm, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home
