Jim Bridges

SHELBY: James “Jim” Bridges, 82, died Monday, January 13, 2025 at Atrium Health Cleveland. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late John and Morie Penson Bridges. Jim was a man who loved and provided for his family. He retired from Fiber Industries and he enjoyed woodworking and working on cars with his son. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Bridges Melton; and brother, Jack Bridges. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Aloma Harrison Bridges, of the home; son, Chris Bridges and girlfriend, Aleesha Morris of Shelby; sister, Susie Pierce and husband Robert of Gaffney; grandchildren, Kelly Melton, Dylan Bridges, Justin Morris, Stephen Morris and Makinley Johnson; great grandchildren, Aliyah Graham, Brett Graham, Caiden Graham and Kinsley Lawrence; and great-great granddaughter, Lily Smith. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Hartis, Chaplain. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Via Hospice.
