SHELBY-Mr. James “Jim” M. Gold, 68, died Wed., Nov. 13, 2013. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Roy and Mary Mildred Lattimore Gold. Jim graduated from Burns High School and then The Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. After graduation, Jim spent his working career at Palmer Mortuary, where he worked as a funeral director and embalmer, and later as the owner. He retired in 2010 after serving more than 40 years in the profession. Jim was currently serving as the Chairman of the Cleveland County Nursing Home Advisory Board, and was a sitting member of the Board of Trustees at Cleveland Community College. Jim was previously Assistant Coroner for Cleveland County and a lifelong Democrat formerly serving as Precinct Chair of Shelby #7. When he wasn’t working or volunteering, Jim enjoyed a round of golf with his buddies. He was a member of Zoar Baptist Church.
SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Marelena Pearson Gold, of the home; daughter, Jennifer Arey and husband Bill of Shelby; and his granddog, Truman Arey.
