Jimmy Bowen

SHELBY- Jimmy Newton Bowen, 81, died Sat., May 6, 2017, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Joe and Rehama Clary Bowen. Jimmy served in the Army, was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and retired from NCDOT, after 30 years of service. He loved gardening and sharing his crops with others.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Linda Humphries Bowen, of the home; daughter, Debra Brown and husband Tim of Lenoir; son, Randy Bowen and wife Kay of Shelby; grandchildren, Joseph Brown and wife Michelle of Lawndale, Lindsay Runion and husband Johnny of Lenoir, Logan Morrison and husband Robert of Earl, Andrew Bowen, Seth Bowen, and Mallory Collins, all of Shelby; great-grandchildren, Kinzley, Kelton, and Knox Brown, Ryland, Sawyer and Ridge Runion; brothers, Pinkney Bowen and wife Jean of Gaffney, Paul Bowen and wife Barbara, and Kenneth Bowen and wife Delores, all of Shelby; sister, Patricia Eaker and husband Harold of Shelby; brother-in-law, Dan Humphries; sister-in-law’s, Ellie Humphries, and Elaine Pearson and husband Bill; and numerous nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends Monday, 4:30-6pm, at Mt Sinai Baptist Church

FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral services will be held 6pm, Monday, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church

OFFICIATING: Rev. Tim Trexler will officiate

BURIAL: Will follow in the church cemetery
