Jimmy Haynes

SHELBY: Jimmy Ray Haynes, 80, died Sunday, May 29, 2022 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain. A native of McDowell County, he was the son of the late Milton and Jewell Greenlee Haynes. Jimmy served in the US Army, worked many years at Doran Textiles and later retired with NC Department of Corrections, as an officer. He was an avid water ski competitor, enjoyed traveling with his wife and attended Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, Todd Bailes; and sisters, Linda Cook and Virginia Burnett. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Brenda McSwain Haynes, of the home; daughter, April Haynes Pettyjohn; step-daughter, Kim Bailes, both of Shelby; sisters, Mary Murray of GA and Jane Ricker and husband James of Marion; brother, Bobby Haynes and wife Linda of Marion; granddaughters, Kendra and Kayleigh Pettyjohn; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, June 2, 2022 in Cleveland Memorial Park, with the Rev. David Rabb officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside, in the cemetery. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
