John Thompson

SHELBY: John “Johnny” Thompson, 80, died Friday, October 18, 2024. Born in Polk County, he was the son of the late Robert and Ethel Trammel Thompson. Johnny served in the Airforce and retired from Sara Lee. He owned and operated John Thompson Used Cars and enjoyed hunting and going to car and merchandise auctions. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Thompson; and sister, Judy Casey. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Brenda Brown Thompson of the home; son, Johnny Thompson of Shelby; sister, Barbara Honemon and husband Richard of Campobello, SC; grandchildren, Bradley Thompson, Jordon Navey and husband Derek, and Bridgett and Katherine Thompson; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Colton and Hunter Navey; and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. A graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 26, 2024 in Cleveland Memorial Park with the Rev. Zolton Thornburg officiating.
