SHELBY- Mr. John T. Tidwell, 74, of 1554 Spangler Dr., Shelby, died Monday, October 16, 2006 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Born on March 18, 1932, in Greenville County, SC, he was a son of the late Emmett Elliott Tidwell and Jewell Hanvey Tidwell of Greenville, SC. He retired from Sunbeam in 2000 and worked part time at the Dental Arts Lab, Shelby. He was a member of Zoar Baptist Church, and was a former member of the Elks, and Lions Clubs and the Jaycees. He coached his son’s Little League Ball teams, and loved fishing and traveling with his family. He served in the Air Force.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Donna Klinger Tidwell of the home; two sons, William “Bill” Tidwell and wife, Barbara, of Georgetown, SC and Chuck Tidwell and wife, Sandy, of Gastonia; two sisters, Marion T. Donley and husband, Paul, of Hagerstown, MD and Yvonne T. Stroud of Greenville, SC; six grandchildren, Lindy and John Tidwell of Georgetown, Christopher, Joshua, and Michael Carle and Jacob Tidwell, all of Gastonia; and a great grandchild, Connor Tidwell of Georgetown.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 18, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home.
FUNERAL: Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at Zoar Baptist Church
LIE-IN-STATE: The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
BURIAL: Sunset Cemetery
