Joseph B. Dockery

MOORESBORO –Mr. Joseph “Joe” Bernard Dockery Sr., 73, of Lucas Lane, died Sat. Dec. 8, 2012 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Welch, W.Va., he was the son of the late Joseph and Nell Noce Dockery. He served in the Coast Guard Reserves, was a graduate of Wake Forest, and coached Mooresville High School Basketball and Football from 1964-66, where he was affectionately known as “Doc” to his players. He lived for anything sports.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Shirley Watts Dockery, of the home; two sons, Joey Dockery and wife Kamala of Shelby; Tony Dockery of Mooresboro; two daughters, Cheryl Garland-Price, and Julie Dunn and husband Harley, all of Columbia, SC; sister, Theresa Triani of Fort Myers, Fl; eight grandchildren, Ryan Garland, Will and Brandon Dockery, all of Shelby, Eric Dunn, Tiffany Kaylor, both of Columbia, Ary and Robert Dockery, Erin Ramseur, all of Wilmington; and three great-grandchildren, Tristan and Cameron Garland of Shelby, Bella Kaylor of Columbia.

SERVICES: Will be private to the family.
