Karen Kempton

SHELBY-Karen Kempton, 72, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at Brookdale Assisted Living. A native of Scioto County, OH, she was the daughter of Dorothy Personette McManus of Holly Ridge, and the late Chester McManus.
Karen was a member of Grifton Freewill Baptist Church, and attended Faith Freewill Baptist Church and Shelby Freewill Baptist Church.

PRECEDED: In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Michael Carper, and second husband, William Kempton.

SURVIVED: In addition to her mother, she is survived by her sons, Rev. Mike Carper and wife Kim of Shelby, and Bryan Kempton and wife Rhonda of Greenville, NC; daughter, Angie Cowan and husband Jimmy of Farmville; brother, Ryan McManus of Holly Ridge; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family would like to the staff of Brookdale Assisted Living for all their love and care they extended during her stay.

GRAVESIDE SERVICES: A graveside service will be held Friday, 3p.m. at Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville, NC
