Kathryn Mccurry

SHELBY: Kathryn Bridges McCurry, 82, died Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Hospice at Wendover. Born in Cherokee County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Evans and Mary Elizabeth Hopper Bridges. Kathryn served as the church secretary at New Hope Baptist Church for 54 years. She also owned and operated Kathryn’s Cakes and Catering for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Don McCurry; and her infant brother and sister. She is survived by her son, Gene McCurry (Tamara); daughter, Ann Thackerson (Bobby); grandchildren Josh Thackerson (Mandy), Katie Turner (Austin), Courtney McCurry, Cody McCurry (Emily); great-grandchildren Ally, Brody and Colby Thackerson, Micah and Millie Turner. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 24, 2023 at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Russ Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the burial service.
