Kay Ledford

SHELBY- Mrs. Kay Anthony Ledford, 66, of 111 Anthony Lake Drive, died October 12, 2008 at home. A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter to the late Howard and Julia Ruppe McSwain. Mrs. Ledford was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church where she previously sang in the choir and was also a member of The Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She enjoyed teaching and creating her own ceramics, which she won lots of ribbons for. She enjoyed traveling, and had gone to Alaska and Hawaii. Mrs. Ledford retired from Kemet Electronics after 20 years, then later worked at Ryan’s Steakhouse as a waitress.

PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Donald “Duck” Anthony, four brother-in-laws; Roy White, Max Philbeck, Bobby Penson, and Dr. Eugene Poston, and two sister-in-laws; Brenda Randolph and Mary Lou Anthony.

SURVIVORS: She is survived by her husband James “Jim” A. Ledford and a son; Randall “Todd” Anthony, both of the home; daughter-in-law Donna Anthony of Shelby; a daughter, Lynda Anthony Bowling and husband Benny of Shelby; and step-daughter, LaDonna Culbertson and husband Mark of Shelby; Three sisters, Norma Jean Philbeck of Ellenboro, Dorothy McSwain “Dot” Davis and husband Robert of Shelby, and Marie McSwain White of Kings Mountain; Two brothers, Thomas “Tommy” L. McSwain and wife Kay, and Larry H. McSwain and wife Brenda, all of Shelby; Seven grandchildren, Tent Bowling of Blacksburg, B.J. Bowling of Shelby, Kelli Bowling of Georgia, Jessica Anthony, Tyler Anthony, Austin Culbertson, and Landon Culbertson, all of Shelby; Two great grandchildren, Avah Cheek and Easton Anthony-Lowery, both of Shelby; a brother-in-law, Joe Anthony; Three sister-in-laws, Nancy A. Poston, Dot Penson, and Linda Raynor and husband Randy, all of Shelby. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: Visitation will be held Monday, October 13, 2008, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, from 6-8pm and other times at the home.
FUNERAL: The service will be held at Flint Hill Baptist Church, Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 3pm.
LIE IN STATE: The body will lie in state from 2:30 to 3:00pm
INTERMENT: Burial will immediately follow at Cleveland Memorial Park
CLERGY: Dr. Wayne Stacey and the Revs. Keith Dixon and Caris Owens will be officiating.
