Larry Williams

SHELBY: Larry Franklin Williams, 84, died Monday, December 19, 2022 at Atrium Health Cleveland. Born in Gainesville, GA, he was the son of the late Dock and Mary Lou O’Dell Williams. Larry graduated from Shelby High School in 1956, served in the US Army and retired from Hoechst Celanese after 40 years of service. Larry and his wife enjoyed Western Square Dancing for many years at the Challenge Level. He was a member of First Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Lonnie, Marvin and Johnny Williams; and sister, Dot Brown. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara Scoggins Williams of the home; sisters, Becky Licht and Linda Worthy; many nieces, nephews and extended family; and special nephews, Mark Beaver and wife Sharon and their children, Amanda, Emily and Mikey and Vincent Shull and his son’s Landon and Drake. Funeral services will be held 2:00PM, Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Robert Canoy officiating. The family will receive friends 12:30-2:00PM, prior to the service, at the funeral home. A private burial will conclude in Cleveland Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Shelby.
