Lillian W. Corbett

August 8, 1915 — February 10, 2010

SHELBY- Lillian Whitehurst Corbett, 94, of Cleveland Pines Nursing Center, died February 10, 2010. She was born August 8, 1915 in Stackhouse, NC, to the late Arthur Wellington and Elizabeth Davis Whitehurst. She lived most of her life in Marshall, NC and surrounding areas before moving to Cleveland County in 2006.
A graduate of Mars Hill Jr. College and Agnes Scott, she was first and foremost a Christian, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all who met her. She enjoyed many hobbies and activities including organist of Marshall Baptist Church, book club, investment club, bridge club, gardening, ballroom dancing, cooking, flower arranging, and crafts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, John O. Corbett.
She is survived by her son John A. Corbett and wife Sue of Belmont; daughter Margaret Westmoreland and husband Ted of Shelby; grandchildren, Connie Corbett of Waynesville, Suzanne Mills and husband Keith of Gastonia, Kathi Hart and husband Kevin of Greenville, SC, Michelle Sanford of Iron Station, Carl Burgardt and wife Sara of Richmond, VA, Jacqueline Connell and husband Jennings of Shelby; great grandchildren Cory Hart, Taylor Wilson, Addison Hart, Maggie Hart, Nicole, Jennifer, and Jonathan Mills, Georgianna, Kayah, and Cooper Connell; and 7 nieces and nephews.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: A graveside service will be held, Sunday, February 14, 2010, 3pm, at Sunset Cemetery.
OFFICIATING: The Rev. Buddy Freeman will be officiating.
MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to Corbett Church Music Scholarship at Mars Hill College, 44 College Street, Mars Hill, NC 28754.
