SHELBY- Mrs. Lillian Grigg Wright, 88, of 719 Live Oak St., died Friday, July 11, 2008 at Hospice House in Forest City. A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence A. and Bessie York Grigg. She was a retired nurse at Cleveland Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Mrs. Wright enjoyed working with children as a Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed participating in the Shelby Little Theater as well. Gardening and crafts were additional interests of hers, as she loved them both.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, George “Ben” Wright, a grandson Christopher Towery, two sisters and three brothers.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by two daughters, Faye Towery of Shelby and Sandy Hollifield of Bostic; six grandchildren, Wade Hollifield and wife, Susan, Mark Hollifield and wife, Angie, Emily Peeler and husband Chris, all of Bostic, Lura Brooks and husband, Mack of Spotsylvania, VA, and Ben Towery and wife Amy, of Shelby; fifteen great grandchildren; and six step great grandchildren.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2008 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times at the family’s respective homes.
FUNERAL: The funeral will be at 3:00 pm on Monday, July 14, 2008 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel.
BURIAL: Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
