Lloyd G Greene

SHELBY: Lloyd George Greene, 85, passed away December 4th. Born in Cleveland County August 10, 1938, he was the son of the late LE Greene and late Ostine Whitaker Greene. He was preceded in death by his late sister Elizabeth Greene Cabiness (Edwin).

Lloyd was a 1956 graduate of Lattimore High School. He attended Gardner - Webb Junior College and Limestone College. He was employed at JP Stevens from 1961-1981. Beginning in 1960, Lloyd spent a combined 25 years in service to the Lord by serving as Minister of Music for Oak Grove Baptist Church, New Prospect Baptist Church, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He loved singing Gospel music. In his spare time, he enjoyed driving for Trailways and Shelby Bus Lines. Beginning in 1983, Lloyd began a 23-year career as a Regional Manager for the National Federation of Independent Business. (NFIB) and retired in 2006.

Lloyd loved the Lord and Witnessed until his earthly journey was finished. He was very involved in church activities and served on numerous church committees, Jail Ministry, Gideons and Exchange Club.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Glenda Sarratt Greene; daughters, Lisa Greene Goforth (Greg) and Lynn Greene Houser (Keith); sister, Myrna Greene Hamrick (Jack); grandchildren, Matthew Goforth, Miranda Goforth, Kelsey Houser, Katelyn (Katie Brooke) Houser; and nephew, Jeremy Hamrick.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM Friday, December 8th at Westwood Heights Baptist Church officiated by Reverend David Costner. The family will receive friends at Westwood Heights an hour prior to the service. Burial to follow the service at Cleveland Memorial Park.
